Preparing for Graduation

As I began to prepare for graduation, I decided that I wanted to find information for future graduates on what to do to prepare for your career. I know that many students do not partake of the opportunities that BYU-Idaho provides for us or does not know about them, and I wanted to explain to them the importance of those opportunities.

Brigham Young University-Idaho Provides Opportunities For Future Graduates

As the semester comes to an end, many students are preparing for graduation. With this being a stressful time, Brigham Young University-Idaho has given their students several opportunities and materials that help them prepare for the future.

The career services center, located in the Kimball building, is the place to go to find information on the internship registration process and how to jump start a career by attending an upcoming expedition. There you can sign up for practice interviews, and resume reviews.

The career service office explains that it is important to make yourself more marketable, and seek after good internships that will prepare you to enter the work force. Employers are looking for professionals with experience. Knowing this, Brigham Young University-Idaho provides these services to help us gain that experience. Our responsibility is to actually seek after and acquire it.

Barbara Thompson, the professional coordination counselor on campus advices students to research the company they want to apply for and make themselves marketable for it. She said,” Once you find that job that you want, develop skills and talents that will appeal to the company. “

As students begin to think about graduation, they should attend career fairs and utilize the opportunities that Brigham Young University-Idaho has provided for us.

I-Auction

This video did not turn out like I would have imagined, but it is on I-Auction. I-Auction is ran by a very unique group of IBC students on campus. They had to plan a business and try to make money with it. I-Auction is a venue for students and community members to sell their items they no longer want.

Construction on Campus

This week I chose to find insight into how students feel about the construction on campus. Amazingly enough, some students say they are excited for what the construction holds for the future. I also met with Brother Nielsen to discuss how long they planned the construction projects and when they will be complete.

Horkley's

I just completed my first package on Horkley's. The first thing you are going to notice is that I had microphone issues. YIPES! The next thing is I am a beginner and I really am learning. I hope it is not promotional, but it might turn out to be.

I tried to do the angle of why do students go to Horkley's?

Interview Video

I did my interview with Paul Reilly. I really enjoyed learning about Final Cut and how to use the camera equipment. However, this video shows that I still have a lot to learn!!! I decided to take what I learned about Paul and show you a little about how he chose broadcasting as a career.
